Dr Vincent JORET
Born in Antwerp, after my medical studies in Namur, Leuven and Antwerp, I oriented my medical career from the beginning towards humanitarian medicine through MSF-France and MSF-Belgium, followed by various cooperation agencies, bi- and multilateral. During my work as a doctor in the field, I trained in tropical, adult and child pathologies, as well as in public health. These thirty-five years lived in Asia and Africa allowed me to learn to appreciate other ways of being and doing in other cultural and socio-economic environments than ours.
In 1987, I met my wife, Dr Birgitta Baade, in El-Fasher in Sudan, with whom we had three children who shared our adventures from their respective births. These were beautiful and intense years, very enriching on a human level. We returned from Senegal in 2006 to obtain my Masters in General Medicine at KULeuven in 2009.
After three years in New Zealand, we settled permanently in Belgium in 2013 where my wife and I opened the ‘Cabinet Medical Neptune’ in Ohain. As a supervisor for UCL and ULB, we are pleased to welcome each year an assistant in general medicine specialization for one or two academic years. This year, Dr. Sarah Kuypers joined our team.
Dr Birgitta BAADE
With a German father and Finnish mother, I completed my medical studies in Germany (Hanover) and public health in England (London). Then, I had the pleasure of working in various primary health projects in the Sahelian countries and Southern Africa in a team with my husband, Dr. Vincent Joret. These years of expatriation made me aware of the adaptation challenges that a family relocation represents for both children and their parents.
Since our return to Belgium in 2013, I have specialized in general medicine at the ULB and in clinical nutrition (ULB/UCL/ULg). It is now the Cabinet Médical Neptune that has become our project that we manage with enthusiasm together.
I consult in general medicine and clinical nutrition.
Based on my experience as a nutritionist within the multidisciplinary team at St Jean Hospital for the care of patients living with obesity, I favor the approach through therapeutic education and the transfer of skills to patients in order to give them the tools necessary to take charge of their health.
